On to music and John Zorn

I like John Zorn’s music a lot, and I have a lot of John Zorn’s music. I really don’t know how to articulately describe his work, but this guy does a pretty good job. And you can understand more by poking around Zorn’s record label, Tzadik. Zorn is a composer and saxophone player who has created two GREAT bands, Naked City (defunct) and Masada. I will post some of each someday. Today, here are two examples of Zorn playing some one else’s music:
EXpired News for Lulu, from the album of the same name. A sax-guitar-trombone trio with Bill Frisell and George Lewis doing a Sonny Clark tune.
and
Expired - Feet Music, from the Spy vs Spy album. A Ornette Coleman tune, like all of them on this cd.
And two examples of others playing Zorn compositions, in this case two versions of the same song from the Masada songbook.
First, Tim Sparks playing Expired -Sippur from Masada Guitars.
Then, the Masada String Trio playing Expired-Sippur .
These mp3s are only here for a week. They are highly compressed; the cds sound better. If you have claim to this music and want it removed email me at glen at tekzen dot net.
