Better Days 2006

Better Days. Thats that name of Paul Butterfields (harmonica) band in 1972, and of the classic album that included the music below. There is a lot I like about this recording. Great players, great arrangement. What I like most is the chord structure at the end of the verse. I hear the final chord as a major chord built on the seventh. I just followed this link that shows it as the five with a sharp nine. Whatever it is I like it a lot.

Better Days 2006. 2005 was hard work. After the GWBush regime I may never be able to use the term hard work without smirking. But 2005 was - difficult and demanding for me, for the world. Want some hope for 2006? How about this from a meditation prayer in The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying(p. 60):
May all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness;
May all be free from sorrow, and the causes of sorrow;
May all never be separated from the sacred happiness which is sorrowless;
And may all live in equanimity; without too much attachment and too much aversion,
And live believing in the equality of all that lives.
I credit the fact that already I have lived longer than most of the men in my recent lineage to that not-too-much-attachment-not-too-much-aversion part.
Happy New Year.
